MURRUMBIDGEE COUNTRY CLUB
KAMBAH POOL ROAD, KAMBAH ACT
We need your help.
Murrumbidgee Golf Club has, for a number of years, called on the ACT Government to reconsider its use of Water Abstraction Charges (WAC), which results in golf clubs paying very large bills simply for using water from their own site dams.
This usage charge, applied to dams is unique in Australia.
We were encouraged by government to invest in water saving infrastructure and to become as self-sufficient as possible in relation to water use.
In good faith, we undertook works amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The government of course, then determined to apply WAC to own-source water, rendering our investments largely redundant.
To underscore the position of ACT golf clubs, any golf club in the ACT that draws water from an on-site dam pays $250 per mega litre. In contrast, no golf club in New South Wales, or indeed the rest of the country pays for the water they draw from an on-site dam.
PLEASE email the Chief Minister, Treasurer and Minister for the Environment and loudly voice your objection to this charge.
